Step One
Remove sticks, debris, and rocks over 1 inch. Weeds should be hoed or sprayed. We recommend that you spray out crabgrass or bermuda.
Step Two
Rototill to a depth of 4-6 inch and then incorporate a minimum of 2 inches of compostĀ by rototilling a second time.
Step Three
Grade your site so extra water will flow off the lawn, and away from the house. Slope the lawn bed gradually to the edges, which should be 3/4 to 1 inch lower to accommodate the thickness of the sod. Roll the surface to reveal low areas and fill them in. Re-rake the soil to a smooth finish and add pre-plant fertilizer on top of the prepared lawn.
